In the early 1940s, migrants of many ethnic origins came to settle down on this small island, previously known as Temasek. The country went through many transformations over a span of a few years. Many migrants had travelled distances, hoping to find a better future here, a place which they could perhaps settle down in and begin a new career.

On one of them was our late father, Mr. M. W. Mahtani, who decided to settle down in Singapore and start a small and enterprising business. This establishment was set up in 1956 and was called Tanglin Silk Store.
He started the business by dealing in various imported items like swimwear, textiles, some Asian handicrafts, and semi-precious costume jewelry. The Company grew over the years, and catered not only for the small local population, but also for the tourists as well, who began flocking to this tiny nation.
To carry on the family tradition, 2 of the 4 Sons in
the family, Mano and Ishu Mahtani, joined the family
business. It has now been 5 decades since the business
was established. We are now pleased to be of service
to our distinguished customers from all over the world.
With the Internet world also now drawing us closer to
our overseas friends and clients, we continue to provide
them with our sophisticated and professional mail order
